Understanding Finance for Business
Understanding Finance for Business offers investment readiness support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the East Midlands who want to raise investment finance.
An investment ready company has a proposition that closely matches what an investor is looking for and is able to articulate the opportunity in a concise way.
Understanding Finance for Business helps businesses to prepare and become investment ready.
Understanding Finance for Business is designed to help businesses:
- Increase their awareness of the external finance options available
- Define their finance needs
- Build an understanding of investors and their expectations
- Understand the investment raising process
- Understand how to make and defend a pitch to investors
- Refine appropriate documents and presentations required to raise finance.
Understanding Finance for Business is made-up of the following elements:
- Awareness – Right Funds for You events are held regularly across the region and provide an introduction to external sources of finance available
- Amber Stream – Workshops that help businesses to understand what an investor is looking for and how to develop a compelling investment proposition. These workshops are followed by Amber Panels, which are an opportunity for businesses to practice their pitch in front of an audience of professionals and receive feedback and advice
- Green Stream – Offers one-to-one coaching to finesse a business proposition and improve chances of raising investment. There is also assistance available for some businesses with corporate finance and legal fees
Showcases – The programme culminates in showcasing events that allow investment ready businesses to pitch their propositions to an audience of investors, such as venture capitalists, business angels and investment professionals. There are different types of showcases depending on the amount of money being sought
