The Outline Project Plan represents the first part of the application process. You must submit the Outline Project Plan and receive a response from us before proceeding further with a full application.

When completing the Outline Project Plan please give as much information as possible, explaining how the project will have an impact on the performance and development of your business. This information will enable us to reach an initial view as to whether we might be able to help. However, it is no guarantee that a full application will be successful.
If we are able to help, you will be asked to submit a full application. This full application involves:

  • A completed application form
  • Financial appendices, supported by full financial forecasts
  • A copy of your last three years’ statutory audited accounts or unaudited accounts
  • A copy of your Group’s most recent accounts (if applicable)
  • Your latest management accounts (and Group’s if applicable)
  • Your business plan
  • CVs for all Directors, business owners and key personnel
  • Details of production processes
  • Third party market information
  • Details and evidence of funding.

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills application form and financial appendices will be forwarded separately to you.

From April 2007, there is a single Business Link service for the East Midlands, covering the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland.

This single Business Link service provides access to a number of business support services. To access these services and for help putting together a business plan, please click on the links below.

emda is committed to handling your request for further information and full applications as professionally and quickly as possible. We aim to give you a decision within 30 days of receiving your fully documented application. Larger, more complex applications may take longer. If this is necessary, we will aim to take account of your commercial position.

Where the project involves a grant of £2 million or more, the application will be assessed by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. Additional information is usually required by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. In the first instance, applicants should contact:
