Grant for Business Investment (GBI)
GBI (formerly known as Selective Finance for Investment in England or SFIE grants) makes discretionary grants available from Government (the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform – BERR) to support businesses with investment projects which will increase productivity, skills and employment in deprived areas in England.
The grants are managed by the Regional Development Agencies.
In February 2007, East Midlands Development Agency (emda) announced an ambitious extension to the scheme to support small and medium-sized enterprises across the whole of the region.
This mini website includes everything you need to know about the GBI grant scheme and who to contact should you wish to discuss an application.
GBI is the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform's capital investment grant scheme aimed at encouraging businesses to invest in land and buildings, plant and machinery to support expansion and modernisation in England’s more deprived areas. The scheme is delivered in the East Midlands region by emda
The East Midlands covers the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland.
In February 2007, emda announced an ambitious extension to the scheme to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the whole of the region.
What are your business’ plans?
- Are you a business looking for the last piece of the financial jigsaw for your business expansion or modernisation project?
- Are you based, or looking to be based, in the East Midlands?
- Are you looking to invest in land and buildings, plant and machinery or other assets?
- Will this project significantly improve the productivity of your company or substantially improve the level of skills within your workforce?
- Are you committed to developing new products and processes? Will the project support this development?
- Does the project involve maximising potential opportunities in niche, fast growing or export markets?
If the answer is yes to all of these questions, GBI may be available to your business. |
