A free celebration of science and technology at Snibston

Improve your resource efficiency
emda is offering support to help businesses access up to £500,000 from the Carbon Trust. The Carbon Trust is offering a loan to eligible companies, to purchase equipment that significantly reduces energy costs and cuts carbon emissions.

East Midlands STEM Partnership Forum Event – STEM from every angle
The sixth East Midlands STEM Partnership Forum Event will be held at 3M Health Care Limited, Loughborough, on Wednesday 3rd March between 9.30am - 2.00pm. The event will look at problem solving skills essential for today's science, technology and engineering advancements.

During the event, problem solving skills will be explored in the context of the region’s priority sectors - transport equipment, food and drink, sustainable construction and healthcare and bioscience.

The National Training Awards (NTA) celebrate training and development in the UK, and are run by UK Skills on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). The Awards highlight organisations and individuals that have achieved outstanding business and personal success through investment in training. Experienced NTA professionals are providing information sessions which walk potential entrants through the process of preparing their entries and give them hints and tips on what the judges are looking for. East Midlands Women in Business Conference 2010
Now in its sixth year, the event will take place on Thursday 4th March 2010 at Pride Park Stadium, Derby. It will provide advice, support and inspiration to women looking to develop their businesses, skills, employment prospects and personal life.

Backing Young Britain in the East Midlands
Backing Young Britain is the Government’s campaign to bring organisations from the private, public and voluntary sectors together to create new opportunities for young people. The campaign can help employers offer an apprenticeship, give a young person a job and provide work experience.

A roadshow will arrive in Leicester on Monday 8th March 2010. An employer breakfast meeting will take place between 7.45am – 9am at the Cinema Delux, High Cross Shopping Centre. Young people will also have a chance to meet employers and find out about potential opportunities at a careers advice centre between 10am – 2pm, also at the High Cross Shopping Centre.

emda seeks to identify regional business challenges and opportunities

Organisers of the East Midlands innovation Festival (iFestival) have announced dates for the fourth annual celebration of innovation. The 2010 iFestival will take place over a six week period between 12th March and 23rd April. The Festival will include events involving businesses, universities and public sector organisations from across the region.

Real Roles - employment for people with learning disabilities
The Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA), in partnership with Heart n Soul has launched a Real Roles online community of practice, supported by emda. It has been designed to support public sector organisations to get people with learning disabilities into employment. Real Roles is an information website where its members can share best practice, ask questions and be part of a movement of change.
