LEADER Approach
Part of the programme targets rural communities as part of the £12 million LEADER Approach – projects where local groups decide and agree their own priorities and needs.

Seven awards have been made to the following LEADER Approach partnerships and they are now commencing delivery of projects.

Delivery of the LEADER Approach
The Local Action Groups will implement Local Development Strategies focusing on a number of key categories of activity:
Types of projects supported through the LEADER Approach are:
- Diversification
- Support for creation and development of micro-enterprises promoting entrepreneurship and creating employment opportunities
- Encouragement of tourism activities, making rural tourism business more sustainable through collaboration and resource efficiency.
- Conservation and upgrading of rural heritage and culture
- Provision of training and information, including business skills and technical awareness for the rural community.
