Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) 2007 – 2013

Skills and vocational training

Our consultations with stakeholders have suggested there are gaps in current vocational skills provision in the sector and emda is keen to see these addressed through the Rural Development Programme for England.

To meet this need, £900,000 of RDPE funding will be spent specifically on skills development for land based businesses across the East Midlands. Lantra has been appointed as the managing agent for the LandSkills East Midlands programme between 2009 and 2011

LandSkills East Midlands will deliver a range of training opportunities to those working within agriculture, horticulture and forestry businesses. Support is available to assist businesses to upskill their workforce, improve productivity, and efficiency so they are able to develop businesses that are both competitive and sustainable.

The LandSkills East Midlands programme will work with a wide network of partners, including training groups, industry bodies, veterinary specialists and the private sector to deliver a broad range of activities to develop skills and knowledge, in addition to the more traditional methods of training it will be possible to access funding for discussion groups, and practical demonstrations.

The programme will offer support to individuals seeking specific training support and to training providers who may wish to deliver specific RDPE approved training courses.
